This project started with the idea of collecting soils from recorded locations visited during journeys taken on longer walks, and presented as a series of portraits. Having made 12 works in this manner, I realised I needed to develop the project further. The soils collected where mostly from the tops of ridges, after looking at maps of the various areas I have decided to retrace my steps, this time to visit the valleys that the water from the particular ridges feeds into.
I now see the series developing into a series of diptych and triptych’s that are exhibited as one body of work.
